5 Months Old...

I just can't believe how quickly time is passing!! Jesse said to me the other day while he was holding Maelee that he cannot believe how big she is getting! He said, he remembers when she was brand new looking up at him in the hospital with those big, goopy eyes sticking her tongue out at him, and now she is wearing six month jammies!

We wish that we could just push the pause button for a little while and maybe even put her in a little bubble because she is growing up way too fast and all we want to do is love her and protect her and keep her little forever! BUT. This has been the most fun, rewarding, 5 months of our lives to watch her accomplish things and grow.. when you say it out loud, 5 months really doesn't seem like a lot of time in the grand scheme of things but little babies just accomplish so much on a day to day basis, I can't believe how much they learn and do in just these 5 short months. Babies are so amazing.

I came across this quote and I fell in love with it.

"Mommy's Girl"
My little eyes are watching
My ears are listening too.
They take in everything
that you say and do.

My little hands are eager
to do the things you do.
I'm hoping and I'm dreaming
I'll grow up just like you.

So be careful how you teach me
to do the things you do
for someday not so far away
I'll be grown up just like you.
-Patsy Gaut-

This really is just a daily reminder of how much our actions affect our little ones. I already see so much of my personality in Maelee and while it makes me really happy and excited... it also scares the crap out of me!! I have good traits that I will happily pass on to my bug.. but sometimes after I have a meltdown or get stressed over something dumb and insignificant, I look at Maelee and think "what am I doing?" I know that I am demanding, impatient, and insecure of myself a lot of times and am always questioning if I am doing the right thing. All I know is she IS watching and listening to everything we do and we are her examples. Now I know that she has her very own personality and I know that I can't shield her from everything that I would like to.. but I will do everything i can to make sure that me and Jesse and our families set the very best example for her that we say and do, always.

So here is what's up with Maelee Bug at five months..

Eating 6-7 ounces 4 times a day, she would be THRILLED if we would let her eat 8oz, she is such a good eater

Wears size 3 pampers diapers

She belches.. like a boy.. how can something so big come out of something so small???

She can put her own binky in when she wants to

She loves to play with her toes and feet and even manages to get her toes in her mouth sometimes...gross

SO MUCH for tummy time.. right when you put her on her belly she rolls right back over

She scoots around, it won't be too long before she starts crawling

She whispers.. it's so cute

She can sit up like a big girl for a little while but then gets tired and falls forward

Still drools like crazy, can't imagine what it will be like when she is teething

She wants to put everything and I mean everything in her mouth

She has a really goofy personality that I love

We love her big open mouth smile that she gives to us whenever we see her..

Also

Happy birthday to my big brother Nick today!! We wish you could be here with us and miss you like crazy! Love you so much.

She is so darling. I see a little of my Bodee in her. It's amazing how some kids just look alike. She is absolutely darling! Bodee too is in a size 3 diaper. He rolls, but only a few times. He sits on his belly and plays with his toys. Thanks for the reminder of how we always need to watch what we say and do because the little ones are always tuned in. I love my boys and hope to set the very best example that I can. So hopefully one day they will be respectful and productive citizens.
